Microsoft Takes Cheap Shot at Nintendo and Wii Owners

Microsoft is doing its best to get into the trenches of the console wars. Over the past few months we have seen Sony and Nintendo exchanging jabs at each other over the PS3 and the Wii. I personally own a Wii and an Xbox 360, and have never had any desire to buy a PS3. I figure that I can buy a 360 and a Wii for about the same price of a PS3, so why not have both?

Anyways, it looks as if Microsoft is trying to join the cat fight. The 360 has been selling well lately and I’m not quite sure why they took a jab at Nintendo and not at Sony, but they did. As most of you have probably read, Microsoft is soon launching the new “Xbox 360 Elite” target=”_blank”. It will feature a larger hard drive, HDMI output, and a new black finish. It will launch at a price of $479, which is pretty steep if you ask me. But, moving on…

When discussing the loyalty of Xbox users to the 360, Xbox live, and to content other than just gaming, John Rodman, group product manager for for Xbox platform and Xbox Live had this to say about Wii users, “We don’t feel like the Wii customer and the Xbox customer are the same thing, we think that as soon as the Wii customer turns 14 they want something else.”

Pretty lame diss if you ask me. It could have been much better. I personally like this comment from a digg user (drlha) on the story…

He’s not being a troll. As soon as a kid turns 14, he will want an Xbox360.

What he failed to mention is that as soon as the kid turns becomes an adult, he’ll go back to wanting a Wii.

Moving on…
